M4Scalp EA Performance

Three backtests cover January–May 2025 on EURUSD, across two timeframes and three capital levels. All use MetaTrader 4 Strategy Tester on ICMarketssc-Demo04 (Build 1441).

H1 Backtest — $500 starting capital: 500 trades, 84.00% win rate, profit factor 8.33, 1.13% maximal drawdown, $500 → $5,200 over 5 months.

M30 Backtest — $1,000 starting capital: 476 trades, 84.03% win rate, profit factor 7.77, 0.93% maximal drawdown, $1,000 → ~$13,000 over 5 months.

M30 Backtest — $5,000 starting capital: 478 trades, 84.52% win rate, profit factor 8.15, 5.51% relative drawdown, $5,000 → ~$108,000 over 5 months.

All three backtests used control-point modeling — MetaTrader’s fastest but least precise tick simulation method. This means entry and exit prices are approximated, not reconstructed from real tick data. Spread was set to default (zero) in two of three tests, which does not reflect live broker conditions where EURUSD spread typically runs 0.8–1.5 pips on ECN accounts. The maximal drawdown figures (under 1.2% across all tests) are almost certainly compressed relative to what live execution would produce.

The weakness condition is spread-sensitivity: scalpers capturing small per-trade gains are structurally exposed when spread widens — during news events or low-liquidity sessions, the spread cost erodes the margin that makes the strategy profitable. This is a structural characteristic of all short-duration scalpers, not a setting-level fix.

Mitigation is execution quality: ECN accounts with sub-1-pip typical spread on EURUSD and VPS latency under 10ms reduce this exposure. A news filter (avoiding high-impact events) addresses the acute version. Neither eliminates the structural sensitivity — they size it down to manageable.
