The backtest used MT4’s Control Points model — the platform’s own report labels this “a very crude method; results must not be considered.” Control Points reconstructs price from OHLC data only, skipping tick-level movement entirely, which means spread, slippage, and between-bar price action are absent from every trade calculation. A profit factor of 34.7 generated under these conditions tells you the EA can find directional trades on XAUUSD M5 — it does not tell you what it will do when real spread hits every entry.

The live evidence answers that question directly: a demo account running the default settings lost 53.44% of a $1,000 deposit in three trading days (March 18–20, 2026), with peak drawdown reaching 58.19%. The trigger is structural — BuyPinbarAlwaysTrueIfNoSignal: true and SellPinbarAlwaysTrueIfNoSignal: true force the EA to open positions even when its own signal logic finds nothing valid, and Max_Order: 200 allows up to 200 simultaneous open positions with a stop loss of 10,000 pips per trade. This is a Structural weakness: it cannot be removed by parameter adjustment because the forced-entry flags and uncapped position count are the default operating mode.

The flaw in default configuration is that BuyPinbarAlwaysTrueIfNoSignal and SellPinbarAlwaysTrueIfNoSignal are both true, so the trend filter’s output is bypassed and positions open regardless of signal quality.

Signal Trigger: Pinbar detection on M5 confirmed by M1 OSA_fTrend filter (HalfLength 12, Close price). MACD (8/13/5, Close) provides additional directional context. Default settings disable all three time filters, so the EA trades around the clock.

Position Close: Take profit fixed at 100 pips. Trailing stop activates at 40 pips profit and locks in 35 pips. Close_BySignal is set to false — signal reversal does not trigger an early exit.

Exposure Limits: Max_Order is set to 200 by default — functionally unlimited for retail account sizes. Stop loss per trade is 10,000 pips, which provides no meaningful protection.
